What a Rwenzori Trek Costs
A Rwenzori trek price is built from several distinct components, and understanding what sits inside it matters more than the headline number — particularly right now, while we're confirming the current park fee tariff before quoting specific prices.
What is in a trek price
Park fees, paid to Uganda Wildlife Authority for each day inside the national park. The mountain leg — guides, porters, huts or camps, and food while on the trail. Transfers between Kasese and the trailhead. Gear hire, where applicable. And the operator's margin for organising the trip and taking responsibility for you on the mountain.
Park fees
Covered in full detail on our dedicated park fees and permits page. In short: charged per person, per day inside the park, set by Uganda Wildlife Authority, and identical whichever operator you book through. The tariff changed in 2026, and we are holding off on quoting a figure until we have the current rate confirmed — most competing pages online are still quoting the lapsed 2024 tariff, which we're not willing to repeat.
Guides and porters
See our guides and porters page for what we can currently tell you about the team structure itself.
Huts
Transfers
Ask us about hire when you enquire; see our gear guide for what to prioritise bringing from home regardless.
Tipping
Not included in the upfront trek price, and handled separately at the end of the trek. See our dedicated tipping page for what we can currently tell you.
Flights and visas
Not included in any of our trek prices. International flights, Uganda visa fees and travel insurance are your own responsibility to arrange — see our visas and entry and travel insurance pages.A full, itemised list of what is not included is sent with every quote, so there are no surprises later.
Why prices differ between operators
Park fees are fixed and identical across every operator. Differences in headline price generally come down to group size, crew ratios, transfer arrangements, accommodation standard, and margin — ask any operator you're comparing us against to show park fees as a separate line, rather than folded invisibly into one number.
Total budget by trek length
— once our current pricing and the confirmed park fee tariff are both in place, this section will give a genuine indicative range by trek length rather than a single misleading average.
