Queen Elizabeth is the closest major wildlife destination to the Rwenzori, which makes this the lowest-effort way to add genuine savanna game viewing to a trek without losing a day to travel. Most trekkers add it directly after coming off the mountain, since a vehicle-based day is a natural way to recover from a week of walking.
Who this suits
Anyone doing a Rwenzori trek who wants wildlife without a long additional drive. Less suited to travellers who want a lengthy safari — three days here is a genuine taste, not a full Queen Elizabeth itinerary.
Day by day
- Day 1Kasese to Queen Elizabeth
A short transfer from Kasese into the park, with an afternoon game drive in the Kasenyi plains area.
- Day 2Kazinga Channel and Ishasha
A morning boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel for hippos, buffalo and birdlife, then on to the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions.
- Day 3Morning game drive and departure
A final game drive before the return transfer to Kasese or onward to your next destination.
