Getting to the Rwenzori Mountains

Reaching the Rwenzori means reaching Kasese, the principal access town on the Ugandan side of the range, and from there to whichever trailhead your route uses.

Kasese sits in western Uganda, close to the Rwenzori range and to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Both main Rwenzori trailheads — Nyakalengija for the Central Circuit, Kilembe for the Kilembe Trail — are accessible from Kasese.

How long it really takes

Whichever route you take from Entebbe or Kampala, build in more time than a straight-line distance calculation would suggest — Ugandan road conditions and the length of the country itself mean this is a genuine multi-hour undertaking, not a short transfer.
