The Journal
Trip reports, trail conditions and practical writing about the Rwenzori, from planning through to what the mountain is actually like underfoot — organised by what you're trying to find, not dumped in reverse-chronological order.
Trail conditions
Our most frequently updated section. Real, dated observations from our own guides about bog depth, river levels, hut condition and the state of the summit route — see trail conditions and trip reports.
Planning
How many days you need, how to prepare for Margherita Peak, what your first Rwenzori trek is actually like, tipping customs, and more — practical answers to specific questions that don't fit neatly on our core planning pages.
Routes and peaks
Deeper dives on choosing a beginner-friendly route, and history pieces on how the range came to be surveyed and named the way it is.
Nature
The Rwenzori's distinctive wetness, its bog, its birdlife, and how to photograph a mountain that spends most of its time in cloud.
From the team
— first-hand pieces from our guides and porters are planned but depend on their direct input and consent, which we are not going to substitute with invented quotes or composite stories.
Some of what belongs here — genuine trip reports with real dates, first-hand guide accounts, current trail conditions — can only be written once we have the real events, interviews or observations behind them. We would rather leave those pages honestly unfinished than fabricate the first-hand quality that makes them worth reading in the first place.
