If you are travelling to the Rwenzori via Fort Portal — one of the two main road routes from Kampala — Kibale is directly on the way. Chimpanzee tracking here is widely regarded as some of the best in East Africa, and adding it costs little beyond the tracking morning itself.
Who this suits
Anyone already routing through Fort Portal. Less relevant if your route to Kasese goes via Mbarara instead.

Travel to the Kibale area as part of the Fort Portal route, with the evening free to prepare for an early start.
- Day 2Chimpanzee tracking, then on to Kasese
An early morning briefing followed by tracking in Kibale Forest, then continuing on to Kasese for your Rwenzori trek.
