The 2 days Lake Mburo National Park safari takes you to Uganda’s smallest park, you will have a chance to encounter a variety of wildlife species including the rare Burchell’s zebras and the the prized ‘Impala’ – a rare antelope species found nowhere else in Uganda. The other wildlife species to encounter include; the elusive leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, hippos, elands, oribis, defassa waterbucks, topis, reedbucks, warthogs and jackals.
The park has a wealth of biodiversity and scenic landscapes; the undulating savannahs, woodlands, wetlands, and masses of fringing vegetation. The area around the park has about 13 lakes, five of which lie within the park boarders. On your safari you will engage in a variety of adventures such as; game viewing drives, boat rides, nature walks, birding and cultural encounters.
Your 2 days Lake Mburo Park safari adventure will begin when a driver – guide picks you from a suitable location in Kampala at 6:30am. The drive to the park lasts between 4-5 hours. You will briefly stop at the equator in Kayabwe to take photographs at the monument where the imaginary line that divides the earth into two halves passes.
As you draw closer to the park, you will sight the famous long-horned cattle which are endemic to this region of the country, the rolling hills, the savannah grasslands dotted with the humble homesteads of the countryside dwellers. Upon reaching the park, you will have lunch and then embark on a guided nature walk through the park.
Also, if you are an avid birder, you could go for a birding excursion. While on it, you will visit areas like; the swampy valleys of Warukiri and Miriti, the roadsides between the Rwonyo camp and the Jetty, and the well-situated viewing platforms at the salt licks in Miriti were you will site a variety of bird species.
On the second day of your park safari in Lake Mburo, you will have breakfast and head out for a morning game drive. You will drive through the demarcated game viewing trails, spotting various game along the way such as; buffaloes, impalas, burchell’s zebras, elands, bushbucks, warthogs, reedbucks and topis. It is also very likely that you will see the elusive leopards, hyenas and jackals.
After having lunch in the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. As you sail on the lake, you will spot; herds of hippos, buffaloes, and crocodiles at the banks. The area around the lake is also a habitat to many bird species including the rare shoebill stork.
You will then later check out from the lodge and head to Kampala, your guide will drop you at any place of your choice. If you have a flight to catch, your guide will drop you at Entebbe Airport on time.
