The 11 days Uganda wildlife safari tour is your grand opportunity to explore the country’s major parks and tourist attractions, for an encounter with its prized wildlife. You will visit Lake Mburo National Park, the vast Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the prized royal Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale National Park – Uganda’s primate hub, Semuliki National Park – the home of the boiling geysers and Murchison Falls National Park – the location of raging Murchison Falls.
You will also visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where rhinos are protected and bred in their natural habitat. This wildlife safari packages offers you 11 days of exploring and savouring the astounding beauty of the pearl of Africa.
On the first day of your wildlife safari, a driver – guide will pick you from your residence in Kampala at 8:00am, you will embark on your wildlife safari adventure, driving towards the Western Uganda to Lake Mburo National Park – Uganda’s smallest savannah National park.
You will make a stop at the equator to visit the monuments, do a water experiment, tour the curio shops in the area, take photographs and buy refreshments. You will continue to the park, reaching there on time for an evening game drive.
The park is a habitat to wildlife species including; leopards, jackals, hyenas, warthogs, bushbucks, buffaloes, zebras, impalas, elands and topis. The park is also a habitat to a variety of birdlife. You will end the game drive in the late evening and retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
On the second day of your thrilling wildlife safari tour, you will have breakfast and then head out to Rwonyo Jetty to embark on a boat cruise on the park’s celebrated Lake Mburo. An early morning boat cruise is your chance to relish the beauty of an African sunrise. As you sail, you will spot pods of hippos, crocodile masses and herds of buffaloes at the water banks.
For the avid birder, there is a variety of bird species at lake; the rare shoebill, African finfoot, Papyrus yellow warbler, Tabora cisticola, Abyssinian ground hornbill, White-winged warbler, African fish eagle, Great snipe and the Brown-chested wattle plover.
After having lunch, you will leave Lake Mburo National Park and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to more than half of the world’s population of the endangered mountain gorillas. You will arrive at Bwindi in the late evening, check-in at your accommodation and retire for the night.
Your day’s wildlife safari adventure will begin when you report at the park headquarters for a briefing and necessary preparations before hitting the marked out trails to embark on a gorilla trekking excursion. Gorilla trekking is done in groups of eight and the trek lasts between 2-8 hours before encountering a habituated family.
Once you meet a family, you will spend an hour observing its members as they go about their routine in their habitat. You will be allowed to take photographs and capture videos during the experience. When the hour expires, you will hike back to the park headquarters. You will encounter a variety of wildlife and bird species in the forest.
Your wildlife safari adventure in Bwindi will also include a cultural trail – a visit to the native Batwa pygmy people. The Batwa are some time referred to as forest people, you will hear their story first-hand and watch them demonstrate their way of life.
After having breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for the day’s wildlife safari expedition. You will arrive at Ishasha – the southern region of the park renowned for its resident tree-climbing lions which you will spot languidly stretched out in the tree branches.
The region is dominated by acacia woodlands, scrubland and riparian forest at the banks of the meandering Ishasha river. You will do a game drive and then transfer to the Northern sector of the park.
The wildlife animals in Queen Elizabeth include the various antelope species; kobs, Bushbucks and topis. Hippos, buffaloes, chimps, monkeys and elephants are some of the other animals to see on your wildlife safari excursion in Queen Elizabeth.
You will spend the entire day touring the various attractions in Queen Elizabeth National Park. A day spent in the park offers you an epic wildlife safari experience. You can do a game drive through the Kasenyi track and the North Kazinga plains.
A boat cruise on Kazinga channel is another adventure; you get to see hippos, crocodiles and buffaloes at the banks, plus a variety of bird species. Birding excursions can also be done in Maramagambo forest, around Lake Kikorongo, the Katunguru bridge area, and the Katwe lake region.
The bird species in the park include; Pink-backed pelicans, Lesser and Greater flamingos, Bar-tailed godwits, corncrakes, white-tailed larks, Chapin’s flycatchers, Martial eagles, Papyrus gonoleks, Black-rumped Buttonquail, Black bee-eaters, African skimmers and shoebill storks.
Your day’s wildlife safari adventure will begin as you transfer to Kibale National Park in the morning after having breakfast. Once in Kibale, you will embark on a birding excursion in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary – a habitat to over 138 bird species.
These species include the; Western Nicator, Grey-winged robin chat, Black bishop, Brown-throated wattle-eye, Superb sunbird, White-tailed ant thrush, Brown-backed scrub robin, Black and white shrike-flycatcher, Hairy-breasted barbet, Yellow-billed barbet, White-spotted flufftail, and the Black-crowned wax bill.
Some of the rare species include the; Papyrus canary, Papyrus gonolek, White-collared olive back, and the White-winged warbler. Birding is done along the boardwalk trail and viewing platforms. You will retire to your choice accommodation in the late evening.
You will report to Kanyanchu Tourism Centre in the early morning to begin your day’s wildlife safari adventure. After a briefing from park authorities, you will hit one of the trail heads to begin a chimpanzee tracking excursion. The chimp trekking excursion lasts between 2-8 hours. Once you encounter a community, you will spend an hour observing its members as they go about their daily routine.
Besides encountering chimpanzees, this wildlife safari tour in Kibale is your chance to see 13 other primate species which make their abode in the park. These include; black and white Columbus monkeys, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, Bush babies and pottos.
After the chimp trek, you will embark on a community visit. You will visit the indigenous Batooro and Bakiga people living near the park. You will watch their thrilling performances and engage in their daily activities.
After having breakfast, your wildlife safari adventure will continue as you embark on a drive to transfer to Semuliki National Park. You will visit the fabled ‘Amabere ga nyina mwiru’ caves en-route. You will also see the magical waterfalls crushing over the caves, as well as a series of other attractions.
Once you arrive at Semuliki, you will drive to the hot springs in Sempaya – the outer male spring and the inner female spring. These springs are a pair of fascinating boiling geysers, hot enough to boil eggs, plantain and other food.
While on a trail to visit the springs, you will see several wildlife species like; the red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys and the black and white Columbus monkeys. A wildlife safari excursion in Semuliki is a worthwhile experience.
After having breakfast, your day’s wildlife safari expedition will begin with a game drive through the three tracks across the savannah grasslands of the Toro Semuliki Wildlife reserve. You will see animals like; the savannah elephants, kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks, crocodiles, and warthogs. You may also be able to spot leopards, bush babies, and hippos, which are some of the elusive creatures in the park.
After the game drive, you will transfer to Murchison Falls National Park where you will continue with your wildlife safari expedition. When you arrive at the park in the late evening, you will drive to the top of the falls – an opportunity for you to see the aggressively surging and hissing waters as they squeeze through the rocks, tumbling through a gorge with a loud thud. You will also see many wild animals and bird life species.
Your day’s wildlife safari adventure will begin with a game drive along the Albert, Victoria and Buligi tracks. You will see a range of wildlife species including; dozens of elephants, herds of buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, bushbucks, duikers, reedbucks, kobs, oribis and hartebeests. You may also be able to spot lions as well as leopards.
In the afternoon, you will embark on a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile. You will sail upstream to the bottom of Murchison falls, spotting hippos and crocodiles at the water banks. You will also be able to spot a variety of bird species including; the Nightjars, Abyssinians ground hornbills, Marabou storks, Giant herons, Giant kingfishers and shoebill storks.
On the last day of your 11 days wildlife safari, you will embark on your journey back to Kampala – Uganda’s capital city. As you drive back, you will briefly stop in Nakasongola at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will spend 2-3 hours tracking rhinos.
You will continue with your drive to the airport if you have a plane to catch, this will mark the end of your 11 days wildlife safari in Uganda.
