Mount Emin
Wanting to climb the Rwenzori Mountains without reaching the peak? Go for the Mountaineering tour to Mount Emin – no snow and it’s shorter than the full summit trek. Rwenzori expeditions guides have been leading tours there for years. Depending on when you go, trekking tours to Mount Emin may be easier to do on the Congo side than in Uganda.
Our Safari Experiences can help you plan your Rwenzori trekking adventure. Mount Emin was named after explorer Emin Pasha Mohammad, and it’s the fourth highest mountain in the Rwenzori range, with narrow, rocky ridges.
If you’re looking to scale the heights of Mount Emin, you can start off from the south west ridge. Alternatively, you can embark on your climb through the groundswell covered steep slopes from the Mugusu valley stretching into the Democratic Republic of Congo. Once you make it to the pass between the two peaks – Umberto (15,74ft) and Kraepelin (15720ft) – you can make your way up to the summit.
When booking your journey, keep in mind that Mount Emin doesn’t have a Glacier like Gessi and the trip will be shorter than a summit tour. Get in touch with us to create a customised climb up Mount Emin.
